Dedication Program

Monday, November 5, 2009 Caleb's Creek Elementary was officially dedicated in a ceremony held at the school. The JROTC Color Guard from Glenn High School did the Presentation of Colors. We were honored to have the invocation delivered by Reverend Mike Shroyer, the Children's Pastor of The Summit Church. Fifth and Sixth grade students sang Step into the Spotlight led by the music teacher Kemp Baker. Carol Minchew, President of the PTA, recognized PTA officers and community partners followed by recognition of School Board members and guests by Donald L. Martin, Jr. the Superintendent of WS/FC schools. The event was highlighted with an exclusive reading by Morgan Hairston, a third grade student sharing an excerpt from his PTA Reflection Contest entry and a song entitled "Technology" shared by first grader Thomas Hurley. Thanks goes to A. L. (Buddy) Collins the Buildings and Grounds Committee Chair from the Board of Education for the Dedicatory Remarks . The building was presented by Perry Peterson of Peterson/Gordon Architects, PA. with the building being dedicated - "officially" open for public use. Mrs. Judy Jones, the principal gave her acceptance of the building by accepting a large key and gave closing remarks.
Caleb's Creek plans to host a celebration at the completion of our first year and seal a time capsule with contents that were added by a student representative from each grade level during the dedication program. Other items will be added as created this year by students and faculty. It will be interesting to see what items will be chosen to go inside that time capsule, and to determine when it will be reopened. Perhaps it's something we seal, open in 10 years, reflect, add new products, and reseal for opening 10 years from then. Whatever we decide to do we'll only be putting a snapshot of Caleb's Creek - its beginning and birth.
